Bride
Since November 17, 2020.
A Tuesday night in Tuscaloosa.
Peyton was on the Alabama Dance Team, and Braiden played baseball at Shelton State.
On a Tuesday night in Tuscaloosa, their two groups of friends ended up in the same place. Rose and Chewy still take credit for getting them together. By the wedding, those friends were married too, standing beside Peyton and Braiden and telling the story all over again.
She told her friends.
After the second time she met Braiden, Peyton told her friends she was going to marry him.
In her vows, she remembered how easy that first conversation felt, like she had known him much longer than she actually had. She wanted to know everything about him, and the more she learned, the more sure she became. They still joke about who made the first move. For the record, Peyton says it was him.
Mostly long distance.
Much of their next five years was spent in different places, so getting married also meant finally closing the distance.
Peyton had counted it all: 1,954 days since she first saw him, 1,823 since they started dating, and 466 since she said yes. Her vows made room for the everyday things too, from singing loudly in the car to Braiden giving her the last bite of his food. She was ready to start a new count with him.
