It all belonged together.
Gracie & Andrew Woods — The Holman House, Ozark
racie and Drew are old-fashioned people, and she wanted the films to feel like them. The old house, the moody music, the grain, and the color all belonged to the same idea. We started with her engagement session in Apalachicola, then carried that feeling into the wedding. They were such a joy to work with, and having that clear sense of who they were gave us something to keep coming back to.
“She knows what she wants and she’s got a perfect way of doing it,” Drew told us before the ceremony.
“She knows what she wants and she’s got a perfect way of doing it,” Drew told us before the ceremony. We asked nearly everyone the same question that day: if we had never met Gracie or Drew, how would you describe them? Her parents called her calm and detail oriented, an old soul. His parents called him a hard worker, good with his hands. His mother said she would never have matched her four-wheeler kid with a woman who has an eye for design, then made the case for it. He went with Gracie to a Taylor Swift concert in New Orleans and sang along, and she hops on the side-by-side with him.
Gracie said more than once that she would be fine once the ceremony was over. After the first look, Drew said he wasn’t nervous, only tired of waiting. The pastor told them their story was already seven years long, holidays and ordinary Tuesdays and all, and that marriage was a continuation of it. A ribbon bound their hands. When it was over, Drew summed it up in three words: “That went good.”
