Beat 01 — A sweet sixteen at South Eden. — Emily's mom first met Tim at Emily's sweet sixteen. Everyone rode a party bus out to South Eden, the same place they would get married.

Spring 2020 · A prom for ten.

They graduated during COVID and prom was cancelled.

Their families called South Eden, were allowed groups of ten, and held one on the porch. The parents had their own in another room. Emily went to Florida State and Tim went to Troy, so college was long distance.

Beat 02 — A prom for ten.

Tim planned the proposal for quite some time and wanted every detail right.

It was in a state park, and two friends came along. Emily guessed what was coming when she saw him text one of them, though Tim thought he was being sneaky. Neither of them remembers a word he said.

Before the first look we sat her dad, Joe, down for an interview, and I was on his mic. Then Emily walked in and tapped him on the shoulder. The first thing she said was that he looked fancy, and that she had never seen him in a tux. She gave him a handkerchief, and then a scrapbook she had made.

The venue was huge. We were running between rooms and lawns all day and every one of us got our steps in, but it gave me more locations than I usually get, so I could go full cinematic with it. The reception area was perfect for golden hour. Matt ran the boom most of the day.

The last dance was just the two of them, to a Coldplay song Tim said he had listened to a hundred times. When we told him afterward that Emily had predicted he would not cry, he said he thought he had gotten it all out during the vows.
