Her brother joined the first date.
Chloe brought her brother Colton along on her first date with Gabe to keep things from getting awkward. The two guys ended up talking until well after midnight while Chloe barely got a word in, so she still jokes that it was really their date. Within two weeks, she was telling her mom Gabe was the one. A couple of months later, the journal she had started for her future husband had a name in it: Dear Gabe. By the wedding, Colton was there again, this time for a first look with his sister.

The engagement shoot.
We asked Chloe and Gabe what they liked doing together in everyday life, and that gave us the plan for their engagement shoot. We went out into the country to film and photograph them fishing, riding in a truck and driving a tractor after dark. Smith was hanging onto the truck with his camera while they drove, trying to get the shot, which is still one of my favorite memories from that session. They had given us the things they actually enjoyed, and we got to make the film around them.
