Ally& and Jacob

We drove down from Tallahassee the day before the wedding so we could film the rehearsal dinner and spend that time with everyone. The best man was nervous about his speech, while the groomsmen were taking bets on Jake’s walk down the aisle. Their line was five and a half seconds, with a separate question about whether anyone would trip. Those conversations made it into the film, and they give us a very different look at the guys before the wedding morning.

This was the first wedding we had filmed in a hotel, and moving the equipment around became part of the day. We loaded everything onto luggage carts and rolled them from scene to scene. Hotel Haya was where we spent the getting-ready time and the reception, with Sacred Heart between them for the ceremony. That is how we got the cameras and everything else from the getting-ready rooms to the next part of the day.

Ally and Jake wrote their letters separately, and both finished with the words ‘until kingdom come.’ Hearing the same promise from each of them was such a good part of the day. At Sacred Heart, I ran A cam and Matt ran B cam, splitting up to cover the church. This was one of our first weddings on the FX3, so the film holds both that moment for them and a little bit of our own progress behind the cameras.
