Alex and Lee
A letter she kept for three years.
Alex started her vows with a letter she had written Lee three years earlier, before an early drive back to college. Each weekend together had made leaving a little harder, and she already knew where she hoped they were headed. They chose to wait until the aisle to see each other on the wedding day. By that morning, Alex was missing him and wondering how she was going to wait that long. The letter, the anticipation, and Lee’s face when she finally reached him give this film so much of its feeling.

The ceremony.
Her walk down the aisle is one of my favorite parts of this film. Keep an eye on Lee. The ceremony, the portraits afterward, and the reception gave us very different kinds of energy to work with in the edit.
